Marek Zyga is a Polish sculptor born in 1968. Fascinated by the human body and its language, he creates busts, torsos and faces.
When he imagines a new work, the artist does not make sketches but sculpts directly in the earth, this raw material that he exploits in all its forms.
Marek Zyga tries to unlock the secrets of our gestures and understand their messages. Each gesture is for him a sentence that he breaks down into words and then into letters, a moving and mysterious part of these works that runs freely over the bodies.
This surreal shade reflects who we are. The letter is also such an important means of interpersonal communication in our modern world. It can become the symbol of a struggle against the problems of wars, conflicts and misunderstanding.
In 2007 a major exhibition was dedicated to him at the Ceramics Museum in Boleslawiec (Poland). Since then, MareK Zyga has been part of many private collections internationally.
