BIOGRAPHY
Kun is a painter from Israel born in 1974. He studied Fine Arts at the Bezalel Academy of Art and Design in Jerusalem until 1998, and in 2000 he obtained his Master’s degree at Goldsmiths College in London. He now lives and works of his passion from New York City.
Kun’s pictorial style is easily recognizable thanks the breathtaking realism that characterizes his paintings. His meticulous organization and the rigor of his work, allow him to achieve reproductions of landscapes with unparalleled precision. Connected to the current of hyperrealism, this artist is inspired by photographic shots. He figures them in oil or acrylic on large canvases.
From landscapes, to close-up shots of a branch, to windows covered with raindrops, Kun’s canvases push the viewer to question himself.
The viewer is invited to squint, to detect the smallest of details. But more to question himself about his relationship to images and reality. Moreover, none of Kun’s landscapes can be considered as a representation of the reality. On the contrary, all of them are characterized by their artificiality. Their goal is not to imitate our world but to comment on it. In his paintings, people are treated as intruders, because they are a source of damage to nature. The strange atmosphere and the beauty of the elements that emanate from Kun’s work make him a brilliant artist that his peers as well as his audience recognize and praise.
